Destination wedding photography for Jordan and Frank's Stone Tower Winery wedding in USA.
I travel all the time to photograph weddings all over UK, Scotland, Ireland and Europe. Jordan and Frank however took it to another level and had flown me over the Atlantic to capture their wedding day at the Stone Tower Winery near Washington DC in the USA. Their story for me started a year ago on the 2nd of May 2014 in London when Frank proposed to his then girlfriend and I was there to capture it completely unbeknown to Jordan. I reserved a small table for them at the pretty Peggy Porschen Parlour on their second day in London. I pretended to be a regular visitor, sitting at the table nearby and sipping tea. My camera was at the ready and no-one apart from myself, Frank and cafe staff knew what was about to happen. I started taking photos as soon as Frank got down on one knee, but I don't think Jordan noticed me for a good few minutes because of the shock and all the excitement! We got a bottle of champagne to celebrate and started talking about how we planned the whole event and how everything came together. I was telling Jordan and Frank about my time in the States in 2006 when I was working there as a student, and we found so many places in common! We then wandered around Belgravia towards Buckingham Palace whilst taking some photos before we said our good-byes and Jordan and Frank continued their European holiday. Fast forward a couple of weeks I received one very excited e-mail: "Greetings from the other side of the pond!
Jordan and I arrived back in the States late Sunday night. As much as we were bummed that our trip came to an end we just couldn't wait to get home and see all of the pictures you took! Literally, the first thing we did when we came inside the house was boot up our computer and check for your email. We LOVED the entire portfolio! Our families were just as anxious and excited to view all of the pictures as we were! Thank you so much for going above and beyond to make this day so special. Without you we would never have found Peggy Porschen's, our new favourite place. We are so lucky to have these beautiful pictures to look back on and remind us of one of the best days of our lives. Thank you for everything!
Honestly, everyone keeps saying, "Dasha needs to be here for the wedding!" We'd really be interested (and very hopeful) in making this happen."
And so we did! On the 2nd of May 2015 I found myself in Virginia, giving Jordan and Frank the biggest hug at the beginning of their wedding day, and finally meeting their families who have been so kind and welcoming! Scroll down to see their wedding photos.
Jordan and Frank put so much love and care into their wedding day and it really showed. Pretty much every detail was lovingly handmade by Jordan's family and friends. They decided to go for an English garden theme, because of the beauty, simplicity and the flexibility to add some vintage flair. And also because they got engaged here and it's a very very special place for them. Jordan, her Mom and sisters spent many weekends visiting antique shops and collecting vintage items. They collected vintage books, teacups, teapots, and plates to put on display at the wedding. Jordan's mum Julie also grew lilly-of-the-valley especially for the bouquet and Frank's boutonnière. Its scent was incredible and added that extra personal touch to the flowers. In the evening we had the most beautiful golden light for portraits and it felt like summer. The most incredible thing happened when I was taking portraits of Jordan - she looked down and saw a four leaf clover straight away! If that's not a sign that these two are meant to be together, I don't know what is ;)
Jordan and Frank, thank you so much for inviting me to come all the way to the USA to capture your wedding day for you and to be part of it. It was an incredible experience, and it was such a pleasure to meet you a year ago and to see you again a year later! I wish you all the best in your future together, and I hope our paths will cross again some day! Lots of love xxx
