"Oh my goodness, you are perfect!!! Best photographer ever and we have always known this!" ~ Sarah and Shane
Seaside wedding in Polhawn Fort in Cornwall, UK.
I first met Sarah and Shane at a wedding in Tankardstown House which I photographed just over 2 years ago. When they got engaged, Sarah and Shane started to plan a relaxed beach wedding in Cornwall. Shane's family was travelling from Ireland, so the couple really wanted for their guests to have a wonderful experience in this beautiful rugged coastline setting. Polhawn Fort with it's stunning sea views was the venue of choice. Sarah and Shane were looking for a photographer who catches really natural shots, personal moments and the emotions of the day and notices guests enjoying the wedding. When I first spoke to Sarah over the phone, she said "If you capture one thing on the day, it has to be how Shane looks at me with love as if I was the only person in the room", at which stage I got emotional and I knew it would be a fantastic wedding.
The bride and groom wanted a relaxed day with some traditional elements and structure. The beachside location was important to them both and they have tried to evoke this in the design without being too theme oriented. Using local wedding suppliers where possible was another important aspect of wedding planning. Scallops came from Looe Harbour and lamb for the wedding breakfast was reared by local butchers. The caterers (Richard McGeown, Couchs Catering) have used seasonal and really fresh (literally straight from land or sea to plate) ingredients for the wedding menu. The flowers were designed by The Garden Gate Flower Company and have all been hand grown on Becca's farm in Fowey and Sarah loved the seasonal and loose, not too contrived bouquets style and table design-scape. Succulents have been gown in pots from anthropologie and tall scented fennel adds height and drama. In addition, the table runners were made of organic bamboo cotton voille, with a specially formulated plant dye by Sian Cornish of Lancaster and Cornish. She has also provided ribbons for the bouquets.
Most importantly Sarah and Shane wanted their friends and families to witness their marriage and to enjoy celebrating together with them. It was a beautiful day filled with love from start to finish and it was incredible to be a part of! Thank you so much to my wonderful couple for asking me to capture their wedding day!
