Dumfries House Wedding in Ayrshire - Jennifer & Peter

"Dasha was the one the best decisions that we made for our wedding day! We knew we wanted the typical few shots of the families together but what was more important to us was the emotive shots and a sense of the day as it unfolded. Dasha was incredible, quick yet precise, friendly and managed to sneak up on those all important moments without imposing! She was brilliant to deal with both on the day and in the lead up to it and I think she captured a real sense of who we are as a couple and special moments with family and friends. We love, love, love the photos and thank you for everything!" ~ Jennifer & Peter

Dumfries House wedding in Ayrshire, Glasgow, Scotland.

As a destination wedding photographer I've been documenting weddings in some of the best Scottish wedding venues for a few years. It was a great pleasure to travel to Glasgow to photograph Jennifer and Peter's wedding at the stunning Dumfries House in Ayrshire. From the very first time I spoke to the bride and groom I loved their vision. Dumfries House was a perfect setting for a classic yet informal wedding. The venue is regal and grand, yet not stuffy. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens and the wedding reception marquee is overlooking the countryside creating a relaxed atmosphere.

Jennifer and Peter were mostly excited about getting married and sharing the special moment with their nearest and dearest. They wanted to treat their guests to good food, tipples and excellent music as these are all the things they love and wanted their guests to experience. There wasn't much pressure on things going perfect, which set a great vibe for the whole day. Wedding guests enjoyed drinks reception outside the main house overlooking the rose garden. There were just so many wonderful moments to capture as people mingled, hugged, laughed and just had a good time.

Jennifer and Peter made sure music was a big part of the wedding day. A traditional Scottish piper greeted the guests on arrival to the ceremony and then piped the bride and groom and bridal party on entrance to the dinner reception. Jennifer went to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and all the artists who featured in the wedding day were from there. A jazz band played during drinks reception and an amazing Ceilidh band with a rock twist absolutely rocked the dance floor in the evening!

All the flowers on the day were by Ayrshire florist 27 Alloway who I had a pleasure of working with before at the Hillhouse.

I'm very much looking forward to going back to Scotland next year! You can see more beautiful Scottish weddings in the Ballathie House in Perthshire and the Hillhouse on my blog.
