Classic Elegance: Tankardstown House Wedding - Danielle & Stephen

"Wow! I don't even know what to say! The photos are so beautiful, couldn't have asked for more. You are amazing! Thank you soooo much from both of us!" ~ Danielle and Stephen

Tankardstown House Wedding Photos in Co. Meath, Ireland.

Danielle and Stephen got married and celebrated their wedding at the Tankardstown House in Slane, Meath. It was a pleasure as always to photograph at one of my favourite venues in Ireland, which is not far from Dublin. The bride and groom's original choice of wedding destination was Italy. However, they eventually decided to get married in Ireland so both their 11 year old dogs, who are as much part of the family could attend. Tankardstown House is a pet friendly wedding venue and it meant so much to Danielle and Stephen to have their two dogs present at the ceremony in the Orangery and then wandering around the grounds during drinks reception outside in the garden.

If you are looking for an exclusive wedding venue in Ireland, then Tankardstown House Hotel could just be the spot. An elegant and luxury venue it is located in Slane Co.Meath, right in the heart of the Boyne Valley and boasts Irish heritage sites like Newgrange and the Hill of Tara on its doorstep. The 18th century manor house is surrounded by parkland and beautiful grounds. It has a beautiful tree lined driveway leading up to the entrance, which we used as one of the locations for bride and groom portraits, along with an old walled garden. We were pretty lucky to have a dry and sunny day, and had a beautiful golden light for the evening photographs.

Weddings at Tankardstown House.

With its light and airy Orangery which seats up to 230 guests (and is a beautiful spot for photographs whatever the weather!), old walled garden and award winning wedding food, it's a wonderful location for an elegant wedding and an absolute dream for any wedding photographer. Upon arrival the guests are welcomed into the main house drawing room, then following down the winding staircase to the beautiful orangery for a humanist or spiritual ceremony. Dedicated wedding team makes sure everything runs on time and your guests have the best experience. It was my first time photographing a spiritual ceremony in Ireland and I learned that it differs from a humanist ceremony. The definition of spirituality as quoted on Spiritual Ceremonies website is "Spirituality encompasses real self, of us.. truth of our inner self… the inner being, hence why our ceremonies always focus ON YOU". If you consider yourself a spiritual person who is not necessarily religious, you can learn more about the spiritual wedding ceremonies here. Danielle and Stephen's ceremony was very personal including some readings, the sand pouring and ring warming rituals to involve their guests.

Weather permitting you can also hold an outdoor wedding ceremony in a beautiful walled garden at Tankardstown.

The couple didn't have a specific wedding theme, just lots of white and soft pink flowers and foliage - flowers lining the aisle, flowers on table candelabras, and flower table plan. Instead of wedding favours the bride and groom made a donation to Dogs Trust - charity close to their heart as that's where they adopted their beloved pooches (check out the cute family photo with dogs below!). If you are thinking about whether or not to have pets at your wedding, I highly recommend it. Tankardstown House is a wonderful pet friendly wedding venue in Meath.

The wedding coordinating team at Tankardstown is second to none and they really do take care of their engaged couples! The ceremony, the cocktail hour and the dinner reception in the Orangery run like clockwork.
