"Dasha, we are totally in love with the photographs! Can't stop going through them. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You really were the best thing to happen to us" ~ Niamh and Aodhan
Elegant summer wedding beside Lough Ramor in Cavan, Ireland.
Niamh and Aodhan have both put in an incredible amount of effort and thought into their wedding and I hope you enjoy reading their story and looking through a selection of my favourite photographs from their big day.
Niamh and Aodhan met in August of 2013. They are both from Cavan, but had never met until the night when Niamh's parents hosted a wedding for a family friend at the Ballyhugh Arts and Culture center they run at their home. Niamh was asked to perform a traditional Irish broom dance and Aodhan was singing in the wedding band at the evening reception. The rest as they say is history! It's incredible how life brings people together and Niamh and Aodhan were certainly meant to be. It was a great honor and pleasure to witness and capture their strong love for each other.
The wedding ceremony took place in Niamh's local church near Beltubert. With the groom's background as a musician, music played a huge part throughout the wedding day and especially during the church ceremony. They had a fantastic string quartet Arco coming from Belfast, who were joined by the couple's friends as well as John Sheahan from The Dubliners later on. One of the songs that particularly stood out and brought tears to mine and many others' eyes was Red is The Rose beautifully performed by Larry Beau.
With a wedding theme "A Cavan Kind of Magic", Niamh and Aodhan wanted to keep it in their home county. The wedding reception took place in the beautiful Irish country house wedding venue Virginia Park Lodge. The location was particularly special to the couple as Aodhan's grandparents got married there back in the day. Aodhan's Granny was present at the reception and it meant a lot to them both to have her there.
What I loved most about Niamh and Aodhan's wedding was how they reflected their personalities in everything they had done for the wedding day. Sharing their big day with each other and their families and friends was what's truly important to them. The bride and groom wanted their wedding to have an easy going party feel from start to finish with lots of special sentimental touches. Getting lots of family and friends involved helped achieve that. Naimh got ready at her family home with her family and bridesmaids. She wore a stunning couture wedding dress by Riki Dalal and completed the look with a pair of Jimmy Choos and a meadow style bouquet with peach David Austin roses. Aodhan had restored his grandfather's tractor especially for his arrival to the church. It looked absolutely amazing! The table numbers at the wedding reception all had Roald Dahl quotes on them to remind about all there is to love about life - " Those who don't believe in magic will never find it". Aodhan has also handmade beautiful cufflinks from old coins for himself and his groomsmen. Naimh's Dad had built a stone arch especially for photographs.
Niamh and Aodhan loved the light and love I capture in my images. They wanted a mixture of natural moments with some beautiful portraits, and most importantly for their love and all the excitement of the day to be evident in their wedding photographs. I hope I managed to achieve that. Capturing their wedding day was an incredible experience! Niamh and Aodhan - much love to you both and I wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
